owning a breed group or breed club
One of the most important jobs within the SKC is holding a registry. Without registries, the site would not function. There are two types of registry on the SKC, both of which are outlined below.
Breed Clubs: These are clubs for a specific breed, for example, Beagles. They are usually run/managed by one person, and all registration applications for dogs of that breed will be sent to the registrar. The registrar will then accept or decline the application and notify the dog’s owner. Once the registrar has accepted the application, they will put the dog’s details and information into a Google Doc held by the SKC.
Group Clubs: Running a group club requires a lot more patience than breed clubs, and the registrar of the group clubs are required to have a lot of knowledge for a lot of breeds. While there is no breed club for a particular breed, it is the duty of the group club to register all of the dogs of that breed. When a breed club is created, all of the dogs from that breed, currently stored in the group club, will be added to the breed club registry. Additionally, if the breed club registrar leaves or decides to no longer run their club, the group registrar will take over their duties. It’s a huge responsibility!
Please note, the following form is for Breed Club applications only. When the SKC requires a new registrar for a Group Club, an announcement will be made on the forum or news section of this website.
To apply for a Breed Club, please send the following form, fully completed, to [email protected]. If you are accepted, you will receive an email inviting you to join the Google Doc with the registration information for your chosen breed.
Please include your forum username somewhere within your email application.
As of April 2013 we will not be accepting applications from members who have less than 100 forum posts.
Breed clubs for popular breeds will only be given to reputable* breeders of that breed.
Breed clubs are not allowed to require any sort of testing or licenses in order for dogs to be registered/shown/bred.
The SKC retains the right to remove the breed club registrar from their role at any time and appoint a new registrar without prior notice.
